Tunnels

Now that I can crawl all over the house, Daddy set up these really neat tubes and tunnels for me to climb through.  Ella used them when she was a baby, although I guess she never really crawled through them.  She was more of a scooter!  Anyway, now it is my turn to play in them.

Daddy set them up and Ella immediately dove in and tried to get me to follow her.  I started to crawl in after her but a tag hanging from the side of the first tube distracted me.  All of my attention was focused on finding a way to get this tag into my mouth.  My concentration was momentarily broken by Daddy who was flashing his phone at me.  He placed it inside the tunnel and walked away.  I couldn't believe he left it there unattended.  I crawled in after it.

As soon as I had it in my hands, Daddy took it away from me and put it further inside the tunnel.  I crawled all the way to the other end to get it.  Then to get me to come out of the tunnel, Mommy took pictures of me with the camera and set it down so I would climb out after it.  They were so excited, but I didn't see why it was a big deal.  I crawl all of the time!

Here are a few pictures of me going through the tunnel.  I am a camera ham just like Ella!

Halfway through!

I made it out!

Thinking about going back in...

The Worst Day of My Little Life :(

Yesterday was a bad day.  It started out normally.  When I woke up, Mommy fed me and changed my diaper.  While Daddy and Ella snored away, Mommy and I played.  I always like when she plays with me.  She does funny things like hide on the other side of the chair and then she waits for me to come find her.  I always do!  Then Ella woke up and things went downhill.

Mommy couldn't play with me anymore.  She made Daddy wake up and then she went to the kitchen to fix breakfast for Ella and for herself.  While Mommy was preoccupied,  Daddy remembered he needed to shut something off in the basement.  He told me he would be right back and he dashed down the stairs.  I didn't want to be left alone so I thought I'd tag along.  I got to the stairs, took my first real look at them and figured I could make it.  Make it I did.  I tumbled down the stairs, landing at the bottom with a thud.  And then I screamed.

I heard Mommy come sprinting to me from the kitchen and I heard her scream when she saw me at the bottom of the steps.  Daddy came running to me from the other side and quickly scooped me up and carried me upstairs.  He put me down and proceeded to look me over from head to toe.  He wanted to see how bad my injuries were.  Mommy just stood there frozen and shaking and crying.  Then those jerks didn't even hold and snuggle me for comfort!  They put me in my carseat and we sped off to the hospital.  Poor Ella didn't even get to finish her breakfast.

The nice people at the ER took me in right away.  I didn't like the nurses poking and proding at me.  I was very aware that this was like my doctor's office and I was terrified that these people were going to give me a shot.  The nurses just checked for broken bones and weighed me.  Then the doctor came in.  He looked in my eyes, checked my head wounds and listened to me breathe.  He asked Mommy and Daddy a lot of questions about the fall and asked if I seemed to be myself.  Although I was fine, he wanted us to stay awhile for observation.  Since the doctor wanted me to eat to make sure I didn't throw up, Mommy fed me and I settled in for a little nap.

When I woke up, I had forgotten all about the incident with the stairs.  The only evidence I had even fallen was that Mommy was still teary-eyed and I had many scratches, bumps, and bruises on my head.   Other than that, I was completely back to normal - tyring to eat the hospital remote and climb off the hospital bed.  We talked to Grandma on the phone.  She told Mommy about all of the times she had to take Daddy to the hospital and that made Mommy feel better, but now Daddy is worried that I'm going to take after him!  After two hours, the doctor said that we could go home.

After we had lunch and I took another nap, we headed to Babies R Us.  Daddy said that I could pick out a present because I had such a rough morning.  He let Ella pick out a present too since she was so good at the hospital.  Mommy and Daddy bought a gate for the basement stairs and some other safety features for the house.  Ella got some crayons she can use to draw on the windows (she's been asking for those since she got to play with Caleigh's!) and some bath paints.  I got a snail that lights up and plays music.  He also rolls on the floor so that I can chase him.

Daddy installed the gate as soon as we got home.  You would think that the fall would have scared me from attempting to go down the stairs again, but today I tried to follow Daddy again.  This time the gate was in my way.  Later, I heard Mommy and Ella upstairs and I tried to crawl up the stairs to find them, but there was a different gate in my way!   I know it's for my own good, but I'm starting to dislike all of these precautions.  On the upside, Mommy has been especially lovey dovey with me the last two days.  She hugs me extra tight like it could be the last time.  I love the extra love...although sometimes she does start to cry again and I could do without the wet tears on my face :)

A Morning Surprise

On Monday, Mommy and Daddy woke up early and were in a big hurry.  They had to go to court to deal with "Trash".  (At least that's what Ella told me.)  While Mommy was getting Ella ready, she sat me on the floor and gave me some toys to play with.  After Ella was all dressed, Ella was playing at her table and Mommy started making her bed.  I thought it looked more fun where Ella was, so I headed over.  Ella noticed I was crawling right away but Mommy was too busy.

Finally she looked down and saw me crawling.  She was so excited!  She kept putting things I wanted across the room to see if I would go after them, and I did.  Every time!  Then she got the camera so she could take a video of it but as soon as I saw the camera, I wanted that.  Mommy is very smart and started the camera.  Then she put it down on the floor.  I immediately went chasing after it.  Now she has a great video of me coming straight for the lens :)

As soon as Daddy got out of the shower, Mommy told him of my adventures.  Then to prove to him that I could do it, I crawled over towards him.  He was just as excited as Mommy!  Scratchy came over because he was going to watch Ella and me so Mommy showed him my new skill too.  Scratchy was very impressed.  I just love when everyone thinks the things I do are amazing!

I've only been crawling for 3 days but I think Mommy is wishing I was immobile again.  I keep getting into things and trying to eat things I'm not supposed to eat.  I think she is tired of constantly distracting me.  I think she should enjoy this while she can because although I'm glad I can now crawl to get to places, what I really want to do is walk.  I've been pulling up on Mommy now and I like to stand all of the time, for long periods of time.  It won't be long before I take off running.  I can't wait to watch Mommy chase after me!

9 Months

My nine month birthday was on Saturday.  We didn't do anything special to celebrate.  Daddy had to fix the sump pump and rebuild the computers in the house.  Mommy just cleaned and tried to get me to eat some puffs.  The doctor told her to try finger foods instead of baby food.  I don't like any of it, but at least I didn't get sick!  I wish she would just stop trying to force me to eat.  I will eat real food when I'm ready!  I think she is just hoping I will eat so she can start weaning me.  My second tooth came in this week and I have been biting her.  I know she doesn't like it, but it makes my mouth feel so much better.  I can't fight the urge.

This new tooth is worse than the first one.  It was really hurting me.  I was having trouble sleeping, I can't control my drool, and it is making my ear hurt.  Sometimes if I pull on my ear, that makes it feel better.  Mommy and Daddy have been giving me baby Orajel and Tylenol but as soon as they wear off, my mouth hurts again.  Luckily the tooth broke through my gums on Monday and I haven't felt like biting nearly as much.  I know Mommy is glad.  It was getting hard for her to feed me.

Back to my birthday - last month I have grown two teeth, eaten some puffs, and learned how to crawl backwards.  Keep reading to see what I accomplish this month!

Goodbye Sophie!

Whew!  I am exhausted.  I didn't get a chance to nap as much today as I normally do.  I went to Sophia's house today.  Sophia is my cousin.  She was born on May 28th - the day after me!  Mommy said Sophie is moving to North Carolina so I went over to say goodbye.  Sophie and I had a good time.  She was really nice and let me chew on all of her toys.  Her older sister, Caleigh, kept bringing new stuff over for me to play with.  It all tasted delicious!

You can tell that Sophie and I are the same age.  We both clap, smile, babble, and crawl backwards.  We even clap together when people say, "Yay!".  Sophie also taught me this really neat trick - first you pull your socks off and then you eat them.  I do it all of the time now :)

Anyway, I really worked up an appetite playing but did not want to take a bottle.  Mommy kept trying to feed me but I was too busy staring at all of the stuff going on around me (mostly of Ella and Caleigh being silly).  Eventually she got me to eat and Sophie and I took a nap.  Ella and I had a great time visiting and we are going to miss Caleigh and Sophie.  We hope they have a safe trip and love their new home!!

We were only home for a little while when we had to get ready to go to Nana and Pappy's.  Mommy and Daddy went out to dinner and I wanted to spend time with Nana before she left for Vietnam.  Thankfully Nana didn't give me a rash this time!  What a long day!

Here is a picture of Sophie and me.  I think she is a little longer, but I am definitely fatter!  Chub, chub, chub...
