Mommy has been very bad. She is supposed to blog for me everyday but she has been slacking. Aunt Carlee yelled at her over the weekend for being such a bad blogger and I think that's why she decided to update today. Meanwhile, I have been up to so much, I don't even know where to begin!
My 10 month birthday has come and gone. To celebrate, Grace and Ella made me a cake from scratch! I wasn't allowed to eat any but I heard it was delicious. Pretty soon it will be my 11 month birthday and then I will be ONE year old. Can you believe it?? I am getting ancient! I'm very excited for my birthday though because we're going to have a nice little picnic at the house over Memorial Day weekend. I can't wait to eat my first cake and open presents!
The weather is slowly warming up so we have been spending a lot of time outside. I love to go on walks. Well, I don't really walk. I sit in a stroller and Mommy pushes me. I love the change of scenery and the breeze feels so nice blowing through the scarcity of my hair. I never fuss as long as we keep moving, even if I'm tired or hungry so Mommy really likes taking me. Come to think of it, she always seems to want to go on a walk when I start acting up. I'm starting to think that's not a coincidence...
Anyway, this month I taught myself how to pull up to stand. I love to stand! I hate sitting down, I feel so short. I try to pull up on anything and everything - tables, chairs, couches, ottomans, beds, laundry baskets, bathtubs, my crib, the tv stand, the stairs, the safety gates, Mommy, the walls...you catch my drift. I also take a few steps now and again (also known as cruising) but I'm still not very steady on my feet so I don't usually go far. I am also saying a few words and seem to understand a lot. English is a tough language! Today, Mommy was talking to Daddy on the phone and she had him on speakerphone so Ella and I could hear him. When she hung up, I heard him say, "Bye." so I answered him. I said, "Bye Da Da". Mommy was super excited. Then I did it a few more times for Daddy when he came home. They think everything I do is so cute and constantly want a repeat performance. It's exhausting being me! They also love when I say hi and wave and when they ask me how big I am and I put both hands in the air. I'm like their own private entertainer. They also think it's hysterical when music comes on that I recognize and I squeal, dance, and try to sing along. They are so weird.
One thing Mommy and Daddy do not like is that I love to chew on electrical cords. They always yell at me when they see me going for one. It's hard to get my hands on them since Mommy and Daddy have hidden them but sometimes I find one and do my best to gnaw on it. They always tell me no and look very stern but my top front teeth are coming in. Cords are the only thing that help the pain! Actually, dirty shoes help too. They had to start hiding everyone's shoes in their bedroom. I can't help it...flip flops are so tasty.
They also get pretty upset when I pull up to a stand at the coffee table and bang remotes against the glass. That I just do for fun. I like to mess with them. Mommy is the most fun to mess with. Just today I got her really good. She was sitting on the floor folding laundry and every time she folded something I would crawl over to it and throw it across the room. You should've seen her folding and refolding and refolding clothes again and again! It took her 4x's longer to get this done then it would've if I had left her alone. Hahahahaha! Classic!
As much as I tease Mommy, I do want her around all of the time. It really upsets me when she's not holding me or playing with me. I climb up her leg and whine and cry until she pays attention to me. I am fickle though. There are times when I will cry for her to pick me up and as soon as she does, I push off of her because I want back down. Then when she does put me back down, I'll start crying to be held again. This usually leads to Mommy putting me in my crib for a nap. Sometimes she tries to distract me with toys or paper. It might throw me off for a moment but I usually figure out what she's up too. I'm too smart for her!
The rest of this week is going to be a busy one. Tomorrow is Nana's birthday. On Friday I am going to see Grace perform in a school talent show - it's their version of American Idol, and Saturday I'm going to a birthday party for Caden. Plus, I have my own things to accomplish before next month. I'm practicing saying words (don't worry, I still refuse to say Ma Ma) and I'd like to start walking soon. Chasing Ella would be much easier if I could run. I'm also working on eating baby foods. You will all be happy to know that I LOVE to eat fruit and am getting much better about eating vegetables. I am also learning how to use a sippy cup. I know how to use one, I just need to figure out how to do it without soaking myself with water.
Oh! I almost forgot! This month I celebrated Daddy's birthday. Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Sheila and Frostie came down to visit us. We went out to lunch and then hung out at the house. I love when they come visit! Hopefully I will get to see them soon. I also celebrated my very first Easter. The Easter Bunny came and left me a cute little purple basket that had all kinds of fun things in it. Unfortunately, the camera battery was dead and Mommy couldn't find the charger so there are no pictures of this event. It sucks not being the first born! I did get to wear a very pretty pink dress and then we had lunch at Nana and Pappy's. Hopefully Nana took some pictures.
That's all for now. I was going to post some pictures but I think Mommy is going to upload a bunch onto Facebook instead. Enjoy!

Tunnels
Now that I can crawl all over the house, Daddy set up these really neat tubes and tunnels for me to climb through. Ella used them when she was a baby, although I guess she never really crawled through them. She was more of a scooter! Anyway, now it is my turn to play in them.
Daddy set them up and Ella immediately dove in and tried to get me to follow her. I started to crawl in after her but a tag hanging from the side of the first tube distracted me. All of my attention was focused on finding a way to get this tag into my mouth. My concentration was momentarily broken by Daddy who was flashing his phone at me. He placed it inside the tunnel and walked away. I couldn't believe he left it there unattended. I crawled in after it.
As soon as I had it in my hands, Daddy took it away from me and put it further inside the tunnel. I crawled all the way to the other end to get it. Then to get me to come out of the tunnel, Mommy took pictures of me with the camera and set it down so I would climb out after it. They were so excited, but I didn't see why it was a big deal. I crawl all of the time!
Here are a few pictures of me going through the tunnel. I am a camera ham just like Ella!

The Worst Day of My Little Life :(
Yesterday was a bad day. It started out normally. When I woke up, Mommy fed me and changed my diaper. While Daddy and Ella snored away, Mommy and I played. I always like when she plays with me. She does funny things like hide on the other side of the chair and then she waits for me to come find her. I always do! Then Ella woke up and things went downhill.
Mommy couldn't play with me anymore. She made Daddy wake up and then she went to the kitchen to fix breakfast for Ella and for herself. While Mommy was preoccupied, Daddy remembered he needed to shut something off in the basement. He told me he would be right back and he dashed down the stairs. I didn't want to be left alone so I thought I'd tag along. I got to the stairs, took my first real look at them and figured I could make it. Make it I did. I tumbled down the stairs, landing at the bottom with a thud. And then I screamed.
I heard Mommy come sprinting to me from the kitchen and I heard her scream when she saw me at the bottom of the steps. Daddy came running to me from the other side and quickly scooped me up and carried me upstairs. He put me down and proceeded to look me over from head to toe. He wanted to see how bad my injuries were. Mommy just stood there frozen and shaking and crying. Then those jerks didn't even hold and snuggle me for comfort! They put me in my carseat and we sped off to the hospital. Poor Ella didn't even get to finish her breakfast.
The nice people at the ER took me in right away. I didn't like the nurses poking and proding at me. I was very aware that this was like my doctor's office and I was terrified that these people were going to give me a shot. The nurses just checked for broken bones and weighed me. Then the doctor came in. He looked in my eyes, checked my head wounds and listened to me breathe. He asked Mommy and Daddy a lot of questions about the fall and asked if I seemed to be myself. Although I was fine, he wanted us to stay awhile for observation. Since the doctor wanted me to eat to make sure I didn't throw up, Mommy fed me and I settled in for a little nap.
When I woke up, I had forgotten all about the incident with the stairs. The only evidence I had even fallen was that Mommy was still teary-eyed and I had many scratches, bumps, and bruises on my head. Other than that, I was completely back to normal - tyring to eat the hospital remote and climb off the hospital bed. We talked to Grandma on the phone. She told Mommy about all of the times she had to take Daddy to the hospital and that made Mommy feel better, but now Daddy is worried that I'm going to take after him! After two hours, the doctor said that we could go home.
After we had lunch and I took another nap, we headed to Babies R Us. Daddy said that I could pick out a present because I had such a rough morning. He let Ella pick out a present too since she was so good at the hospital. Mommy and Daddy bought a gate for the basement stairs and some other safety features for the house. Ella got some crayons she can use to draw on the windows (she's been asking for those since she got to play with Caleigh's!) and some bath paints. I got a snail that lights up and plays music. He also rolls on the floor so that I can chase him.
Daddy installed the gate as soon as we got home. You would think that the fall would have scared me from attempting to go down the stairs again, but today I tried to follow Daddy again. This time the gate was in my way. Later, I heard Mommy and Ella upstairs and I tried to crawl up the stairs to find them, but there was a different gate in my way! I know it's for my own good, but I'm starting to dislike all of these precautions. On the upside, Mommy has been especially lovey dovey with me the last two days. She hugs me extra tight like it could be the last time. I love the extra love...although sometimes she does start to cry again and I could do without the wet tears on my face :)

A Morning Surprise
On Monday, Mommy and Daddy woke up early and were in a big hurry. They had to go to court to deal with "Trash". (At least that's what Ella told me.) While Mommy was getting Ella ready, she sat me on the floor and gave me some toys to play with. After Ella was all dressed, Ella was playing at her table and Mommy started making her bed. I thought it looked more fun where Ella was, so I headed over. Ella noticed I was crawling right away but Mommy was too busy.
Finally she looked down and saw me crawling. She was so excited! She kept putting things I wanted across the room to see if I would go after them, and I did. Every time! Then she got the camera so she could take a video of it but as soon as I saw the camera, I wanted that. Mommy is very smart and started the camera. Then she put it down on the floor. I immediately went chasing after it. Now she has a great video of me coming straight for the lens :)
As soon as Daddy got out of the shower, Mommy told him of my adventures. Then to prove to him that I could do it, I crawled over towards him. He was just as excited as Mommy! Scratchy came over because he was going to watch Ella and me so Mommy showed him my new skill too. Scratchy was very impressed. I just love when everyone thinks the things I do are amazing!
I've only been crawling for 3 days but I think Mommy is wishing I was immobile again. I keep getting into things and trying to eat things I'm not supposed to eat. I think she is tired of constantly distracting me. I think she should enjoy this while she can because although I'm glad I can now crawl to get to places, what I really want to do is walk. I've been pulling up on Mommy now and I like to stand all of the time, for long periods of time. It won't be long before I take off running. I can't wait to watch Mommy chase after me!

9 Months
My nine month birthday was on Saturday. We didn't do anything special to celebrate. Daddy had to fix the sump pump and rebuild the computers in the house. Mommy just cleaned and tried to get me to eat some puffs. The doctor told her to try finger foods instead of baby food. I don't like any of it, but at least I didn't get sick! I wish she would just stop trying to force me to eat. I will eat real food when I'm ready! I think she is just hoping I will eat so she can start weaning me. My second tooth came in this week and I have been biting her. I know she doesn't like it, but it makes my mouth feel so much better. I can't fight the urge.
This new tooth is worse than the first one. It was really hurting me. I was having trouble sleeping, I can't control my drool, and it is making my ear hurt. Sometimes if I pull on my ear, that makes it feel better. Mommy and Daddy have been giving me baby Orajel and Tylenol but as soon as they wear off, my mouth hurts again. Luckily the tooth broke through my gums on Monday and I haven't felt like biting nearly as much. I know Mommy is glad. It was getting hard for her to feed me.
Back to my birthday - last month I have grown two teeth, eaten some puffs, and learned how to crawl backwards. Keep reading to see what I accomplish this month!

Goodbye Sophie!
Whew! I am exhausted. I didn't get a chance to nap as much today as I normally do. I went to Sophia's house today. Sophia is my cousin. She was born on May 28th - the day after me! Mommy said Sophie is moving to North Carolina so I went over to say goodbye. Sophie and I had a good time. She was really nice and let me chew on all of her toys. Her older sister, Caleigh, kept bringing new stuff over for me to play with. It all tasted delicious!
You can tell that Sophie and I are the same age. We both clap, smile, babble, and crawl backwards. We even clap together when people say, "Yay!". Sophie also taught me this really neat trick - first you pull your socks off and then you eat them. I do it all of the time now :)
Anyway, I really worked up an appetite playing but did not want to take a bottle. Mommy kept trying to feed me but I was too busy staring at all of the stuff going on around me (mostly of Ella and Caleigh being silly). Eventually she got me to eat and Sophie and I took a nap. Ella and I had a great time visiting and we are going to miss Caleigh and Sophie. We hope they have a safe trip and love their new home!!
We were only home for a little while when we had to get ready to go to Nana and Pappy's. Mommy and Daddy went out to dinner and I wanted to spend time with Nana before she left for Vietnam. Thankfully Nana didn't give me a rash this time! What a long day!
Here is a picture of Sophie and me. I think she is a little longer, but I am definitely fatter! Chub, chub, chub...

Creepy Crawler
Well folks, I am officially a crawler! I can't go forward yet, but I can go backwards like no other! I've been able to go in reverse for a few days now but I would only go a little way and then stop. Today, I've been all over the house. This morning, Mommy sat me down in Ella's room while she was helping Ella get dressed. By the time she noticed I was on the move, I was practically under Ella's bed. She caught me just in time. If she had let me keep going, she never would've been able to pull me out from under the bed. I almost got stuck!
Mommy had to go to the doctor today so Scratchy and Gammy stayed with us while she was gone. I scooted all over family room. They thought it was so funny that I was going backwards! I have also recently discovered singing. I will sing notes if I hear Mommy singing. Mommy will have to record it sometime and post it for everyone to see. I'm just a little songbird! I have also decided that I don't like being away from Ella. If she's playing with me and runs off somewhere else, I get very upset and fuss until she comes back. She usually feels bad and runs back to me right away. Now I have Mommy, Daddy, and Ella wrapped around my finger. It's so nice to be so small and have all of this power. By the time I'm full grown I will be ruling the world!
